Mahila Shakti Kendra Scheme for Empowerment of Rural Women

Central government has launched Mahila Shakti Kendra Scheme (Umbrella Scheme) for the rural women. Subsequently, this scheme will empower women through community participation and will create an environment suitable for them to realize their existing potential. Henceforth, Central government focuses to effectively expand the schemes of WCD Ministry under Mission for Protection and Empowerment of Women – Umbrella scheme for 2017-2018 to 2019-20. Central government has also launched various Women Welfare Schemes in India.

The total outlay for the Mahila Shakti kendra Scheme will be around Rs 3,636.85 crore for FY18 and FY19, out of which the Central govt. will give its share of nearly Rs 3,084.96 crore. Furthermore, Central Govt. has approved the expansion of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) Scheme after its successful implementation in 161 districts.

The scheme will provide an interface for rural women to approach the government for availing their entitlements and for empowering them through training and capacity building. The outcome based activities of student volunteers will be monitored through web based system.

This process will involve more than 3 lakh student volunteers from local colleges.
